Mino Washi Hand Sculpted Shirt

Crafted from a rare paper-linen weave, the Mino shirt by designer Kenta Nagamine demonstrates the subtle strength of Japanese washi into a wearable form. The fabric is produced in Mino, Gifu - home to 1,300 years of paper tradition. A multi-generational family handcrafts washi yarn by sourcing kĹŤzo (paper mulberry) bark, turning it into pulp, then sheets, and later on sliced and spun into yarn. Combined with linen, the result is a woven fabric with both resilience and elegance, one that holds shape without stiffness.

Each shirt is finished with a hand-sculpted front panel, retaining the spontaneous curves shaped through intuitive stitching. Double-stitched raw edges trace the side seams, hem, and placket, highlighting the paper’s subtle texture and the maker’s process. Lightweight, breathable, and architectural, it’s a piece that merges craft, material innovation, and everyday wear.
